Getting Involved with SWE Austin
The SWE Austin section has four elected leadership positions. Our fiscal year runs from July 1st - June 30th with elections occurring in the spring leading up to the new fiscal year.

President
Vice President

Webmaster
Outreach Chair (multiple positions available)
Corporate Liaisons (multiple positions available)
President
- Schedule and lead monthly section meetings, including preparation of agendas
- Filter information to the section membership from the Regional and National officers
- Lead documentation of yearly section strategic plan
- Maintain contact with Collegiate sections
- Prepare a yearly financial report with section Treasurer
- Work with section committees
- Attend leadership training as necessary
- Attend the Regional Conference
- Attend the National Conference
Vice President
- Run monthly meetings for the President when she is unable to attend
- Attend conferences the President is unable to attend
- Send monthly status report to section president
Secretary
- Attend section meetings and record minutes
- Prepare minutes for distribution to section members
- Designate an alternate if unable to attend a meeting
- Assume Webmaster responsibilities if there is a vacancy/absence in that position
Treasurer
- Track section financials
- Approve reimbursement and distribute payments
- Create and submit yearly financial report
- Send monthly status report to section President
Section Representative
- Prepare quarterly section reports
- Act as a liaison between the section membership and the regional and national officers
- Filter information to the section membership from the regional and national officers
- Provide information to the Regional Officers and the Speaker of the COR
- Gather feedback from the section membership on regional and national issues
- Attend leadership training as necessary
- Attend the Regional conference
- Attend the National conference
- Send monthly status report to the section president
Alternate Section Representative
- Performs the duties of the Section Representative when she is unable to perform her duties
Committee Chairs and Other Positions (Non-Elected Positions)
Webmaster
- Manages the section’s SWE website to ensure it is up to date
- Manages the section’s Facebook, Twitter and other social media accounts
Outreach Chair (multiple positions available)
- Helps with planning of outreach events such as Science Festivals, Girl Scouts etc.
- Acts as a liaison between the executive board and various outreach organizations
Corporate Liaisons (multiple positions available)
- Act as a liaison between the executive board and the corporate SWE members at their particular company
- Filter information to the corporate SWE group from the section’s executive board
- Help organize corporate sponsored events in collaboration with the Southwest Texas Section
